I don’t autofollow, but I do check my follower list and read all @ replies. I mostly follow (and follow back) authors, publishers and the military.

If you’re one of my readers and want to be followed back, say hi to me Like in real life, I mostly wait for people to talk to me first. I don’t normally speak unless I’m spoken to, and I don’t usually follow people who don’t talk to me. I’m a nice person, honest! I’m not a snob. But I am a lot shy.

Also, I’m not looking for a boyfriend on Twitter. I don’t follow guys with the thought that “he could be the one” running at the back of my mind. That’s just desperate (and creepy).

Sometimes, I tweet too much, sometimes, I don’t at all. I tweet random thoughts, thoughts about my manuscripts, book updates and updates from my publisher. I RT mostly writing quotes, other quotes, interesting facts (at least to me), and military news.

Dancing is one of the most beautiful and expressive art forms where the flick of a hand and the swing of a hip could mean a thousand words. Dancing is also probably the oldest of language for people know how to move even before they could speak.

Dancing is also one talent that I don’t have, and envy those who do. I do dance… in the comforts (and strict privacy) of my own room. I play fast songs and move like there’s no tomorrow until I’m tired and sweaty.

I’ve also always been thinking of trying belly dancing, again where no one can see me. I have this notion that belly dancers should have hourglass figures to get into those sexy costumes. I just realized that belly dancers have hourglass figures because of the dancing. It’s very sexy, not to mention, good for the body. It shapes and contours those slender waist and womanly hips. Add in a balanced diet and clean living, and you’re definitely on your way to a better body and healthy lifestyle.

I’ve been accepted to watch (just watch) a succession of performances at the PETA Theater Center. The Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) and Slenda, “all natural, safe and effective weight loss product”, has worked together to bring East West Danse where you can experience Bellydancing and Middle Eastern Dance; Pinoy and French contemporary dance; and Agnes Locsin’s Sayaw, Sabel, a dance performance inspired by brilliant artist, BenCab‘s Sabel.

Looks like my powers also work when it comes to movies. On May 4th, I was so itching to watch Star Wars so I started with The Phantom Menace, then Attack of the Clones. And since I haven’t bought a copy of the third movie, I watched A New Hope. That was late May 4th up to near 3 a.m. May 5th. Then I saw messages on Twitter saying “May the Fourth Be with You” with the hash tag, #StarWarsDay. So I was like “that explains it”.

Last night while writing a manuscript, I started to get restless because 1) I wanted to finish it, and 2) the characters’ children are making a fuss. One of the kids is going to be Lt. Brian Herrera, a Naval Aviator. So I said, “okay, Ian. I’m going to watch Top Gun so be a good boy and settle down”. I got the DVD Edith Joaquin got me (because she loves me and I’m a brat), popped it into the player and watched while I wrote. I alternately lusted after Tom Cruise, the planes, the aircraft carriers, and the academy rings worn by some of the characters *sigh*

Then, once more I looked at Twitter and lo and behold, May 13th also happens to be Top Gun Day.

I first watched Top Gun when I was around 8 (with my mom putting her hands over my eyes when the kissing scenes come on screen), and that was the start of my obsession with anything Navy: the planes, the white uniforms, the aircraft carriers. At that young age (and the fact that I’m a girl), it became one of my favorite movies. And, come on, a young Tom Cruise? What the heck is not to like?

So I guess I’ll go watch it again… or maybe not since I might finish writing the Naval Aviator story before I finish his dad’s. I guess I’ll just go kick some @$$ at the Top Gun game on my iPod. Yes. I do have it.

I found this in my friend, Bluerlyn’s hubby’s blog. Even though I write romance, and my books are mostly focused on my heroes, I can’t (nor do I) pretend to know everything there is to know about guys. So here’s a little insight into a guy’s psyche.

1. We don’t care if you’re friends with other guys. But when you’re sitting next to us, and some random guy walks into the room and you jump up and tackle him, without even introducing us, yeah, it pisses us off. It doesn’t help if you sit there and talk to him for ten minutes without even acknowledging the fact that we’re still there.
2. We don’t care if a guy calls OR TEXTS you, but at 2 in the morning we do get a little concerned. Nothing is that important at 2 a.m. that it can’t wait till the morning.
3. Also, when we tell you you’re pretty/ beautiful/ gorgeous/cute/ stunning, we freaking mean it.
4. Don’t tell us we’re wrong.
5. We’ll stop trying to convince you.
6. The sexiest thing about a girl is confidence. Yeah, you can quote me.
7. Don’t be mad when we hold the door open. Take Advantage of the mood im in.
8. Let us pay for you! Don’t “feel bad”. We enjoy doing it. It’s expected. Smile and say “thank you.”
9. Kiss us when no one’s watching.
10. If you kiss us when you know somebody’s looking, we’ll be more impressed.
11. You don’t have to get dressed up for us. If we’re going out with you in the first place, you don’t have to feel the need to wear the shortest skirt you have or put on every kind of makeup you own. We like you for who you are and not what you are. honestly, I think a girl looks more beautiful when she’s just in her pj’s. or my shirt and boxers, not all dolled up.
12. Don’t take everything we say seriously. Sarcasm is a beautiful thing. See the beauty in it.
13. Don’t get angry easily.
14. Stop using magazines/media as your bible.
15. “Don’t talk about how hot Piolo, Edward Cullen, or whoever in front of us”. It’s boring, and we don’t care. You have friends for that.
16. Whatever happened to the word “handsome”/”beautiful”? I’d be utterly stunned by a girl who greeted me with “Hey handsome!” instead of “Hey baby/ stud/ cutie/ sexy” or whatever else you can think of.
17. On the other hand I’m not saying I wouldn’t like it ether
18. Girls, I cannot stress this enough: if you aren’t being treated right by a guy, dont wait for him to change. ditch his sorry ASS, he’s a disgrace to the male population and find someone who will treat you with utter respect. Someone who will honor your morals. Someone who will make you smile when you’re at your lowest. Someone who will care for you even when you make mistakes. Someone who will love you, no matter how bad you make them feel. Someone who will stop what they’re doing just to look you in the eyes….and say “i love you” ..and actually mean it.
19. Give the nice guys a chance.

Arnel Pineda

Edith Joaquin and I were at this Thai resto at SM City Cebu when we heard Arnel Pineda sing the National Anthem at the Pacquiao-Clottey fight. I loved Journey when Steve Perry was still their lead singer, and I can’t be more proud that Arnel Pineda, a Filipino, became their front man. But the moment he came to the end of the National Anthem, Jette and I looked at each other and said, “bawal ‘yan”.

Every time Pacquiao fights, the person who sings the national anthem gets reprimanded by the NHI for singing the wrong notes. And it makes me wonder, lagi na lang pinagagalitan ang mga naunang singers kapag binabago ang tono ng kanta, pero bakit lagi pa rin nilang binabago ang tono ng kanta kapag sila na ang kumakanta? Lagi na lang. Lagi na laaaaang.

I’m all for artistic or creative license. As a matter of fact, I like how Arnel Pineda sang the National Anthem. He did it with fervor, and I actually had tears in my eyes after the song… and Martin NIevera for that matter, but the law… THIS law:

“Sec. 37. The rendition of the National Anthem, whether played or sung, shall be in accordance with the musical arrangement and composition of Julian Felipe.”

states that we can not Journey-fy the Philippine National Anthem. Bakit, bakit??? hindi matuto ang mga singers na kumakanta ng national anthem natin sa mga laban ni Pacquiao? Ang dami nang laban niyan… ang dami nang kumanta, ang dami nang napagsabihan, pero bakit hindi pa rin natuto!? Bakit?! BAKIT?!

Sana sa susunod na laban, umayos naman na ang susunod na kakanta ng National Anthem… parang mas mabuti kung si Manny na lang mismo ang kumanta.

Pero, papa Arnel… I lab you ha. Okay lang sa ‘kin ang pagkanta mo… bawal lang talaga.
