Trivia:

• Hacienda Ibarra was supposed to be in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, but I made a mistake when I submitted the first manuscript in the series and put it in Ilocos Norte instead. The hacienda being in Laoag worked better than it would have if it was in Vigan.

• Amerie’s friends, Allan and Christine are real people, and so are Amerie’s parents, Irene and Hector. Allan, Christine and Irene are three of my close friends, and Hector is my “manager’s” boyfriend.

• The real Christine really is a talented Internet researcher.

• The idea of the burnayan came from my brother who went on vacation in Ilocos. Amerie was supposed to be a businesswoman who owned a restaurant.
