Pero hindi pa man, basted na siya kaagad sa dalagang NBI agent. Mabuti sana kung broken heart ang dahilan nito kaya ayaw magnobyo, puwede niya pa sanang resolbahan iyon, him being a cardiologist. Ang kaso, hindi. Para kay Gracie, pakikipagrelasyon ang pinakahuling bagay na iisipin nitong pasukin sa dami ng mga bagay na iniintindi nito—namely, ang lola nitong may-edad na, ang pamangkin nitong may autism at ang mga panganib sa buhay nito dahil sa trabaho nito.

Hindi naman papayag si Jordan na dahil lamang doon ay babastedin na siya ng babae. He was determined—as serious as a heart attack—na mapasagot ang magandang binibini.

So Gracie should better brace herself….

TRIVIA

• I submitted Jordan’s book on New Year’s Eve, so it still counts as a 2009 manuscript.

• Gracie’s character was originally a Scene of the Crime Operative before becoming an NBI agent.

• The climax of the story was the first scene I’ve ever thought about, even before I started the series. I was watching Myth Busters on Discovery Channel, and learned the mechanics of how to… well, how to do what Gracie did hehe After that, I was determined to use that in a manuscript.

• Rosalie’s character is based on the son of one of my friends. Mikey was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and was hyper-active. After a few months of therapy and a gluten-free diet, he started talking. He also learned to count and read, and is very intelligent. At the age of three (going on four), he knows what a rhombus is. He could identify the image and read the word.

• Jordan’s assistant Mel is based on my Tita Doc Mel who is an actual cardiologist.
