I love gadgets. I just do. Except that I’m not rich enough to actually indulge in gadgets since I can’t really afford them ha ha. I think I got it from my father who’s a cell phone addict. He’s probably changed cell phones more times than the rest of the family combined. I’ve changed phones a few times already until I landed with my Nokia N70, which is the best of all my phones. It’s so good that it and I will celebrate our third anniversary come December. My longest relationship with a phone. The thing is my phone might be dying, and it might be the best time to window-shop for a new one. The thing is I got distracted. By gadgets. If I have money, lots and lots of money, I’m going to buy a lot of gadgets starting with the following:
1. 16GB iPod Touch 2G Apple iPod touch 64 GB (3rd Generation). One of my best friends Kat wants to get her hands on an iPhone. My other best friend Richelle, having worked as a tech support specialist for the iPhone, would rather not have one. As a happy iPod Touch user, I just want an iPod Touch with a larger memory. You could say why not get an iPod Classic? Memory was one thing I’ve considered while standing at PowerMac. I was holding a Classic and the Touch, weighing my feelings for both. But I got the Touch for the Internet connectivity and the really cool apps. I had enough money for the 16GB when I bought the iPod Touch, but I wouldn’t be able to treat my family to lunch… or go back to NE where I was working at the time. Wala na akong pamasahe if I buy the 16GB. Ha!
UPDATE: I have to save $500 more than the planned amount if I want to give myself a 64GB iPod Touch for Christmas. But, darn! I haven’t craved like this since I first saw a picture of Travis Fimmel. Unlike a lot of people, I really didn’t mind that it didn’t have a camera…. well, maybe a little because the new Nano has video capabilities… but really. I just want the memory. And maybe the Voice Control and Bluetooth
2. Sony Vaio Laptop. Okay, I wanted to get a netbook first. I guess my job reviewing netbooks rubbed off on me for a while. I’ve been selling Asus Eee PCs and Samsung netbooks and Lenovo for a few months now that I want to get myself one na rin. I just want a small thing that I can put inside my purse when I go to Megamall to take advantage of the free WiFi. I mean, Acheron (my iPod) can do Twitter, email and surfing, but there are things you can’t do on an iPod and with a touchscreen. Anyway, I thought to get a netbook for its size, but there are laptops with netboook-sized screens but more powerful processors and larger memory and only a few thousand pesos more than the price of a netbook. I’ve always wanted a Sony Vaio but it’s expensive. My chipipay laptop still works although wawa naman siya. Maaawa ka when you see him. Tinuklap ko na yung buttons sa touchpad, and my dog gnawed on the power cord hi hi. Plus the battery won’t charge anymore.
WORD OF WARNING: Nakakatakot gumamit ng Neo laptop. I’m lucky because battery lang ang problema ko but it started to act up after the warranty. So far, okay pa performance, but if you want quality, hit or miss ang Neo. My laptop is great, pero you might not be so lucky.
3. PSP. I was dreaming the other night. I have a purple PSP daw. I was playing Tekken. Yun lang naman. I’m not a gamer. After Super Mario on the family computer, SEGA, then the PS2, I don’t play as much. I was addicted to Sims and to Starcraft and to Final Fantasy VIII, sure, but while the PSP is different, minsan lang talaga I want to play a game. It’s different on the iPod eh, or on the cell phone. Plus it’s cool din because it’s wireless-capable and you can also use it to play music.

4. Sony Cybershot DSC-T90. I like touchscreens *shrug* I’m terribly un-photogenic and I hate having my picture taken, but I lke taking pictures (although I don’t really have the artistic eye to take really good ones). Not having a camera during college is one of my life’s regrets.
5. Western Digital My Passport Essential Portable Hard Drive. Wala pa nitong 1TB and it’s more expensive than the normal portable HDD, but it’s really cute, really portable, really small. Kasya siya sa pocket. I’ve been planning to get myself one for the longest time, since nag-away si Achimou and Ced, and I had to use a lot of DVD-Rs to create backups for my almost 60GB worth of files so I can rip/reinstall my OS. It’s very important for people like me to have an external harddrive, or a large capacity flashdrive. Meron nang 80GB yata but then that’s really expensive. Hmm, I think this is what I should put at the top of the list, ano?
After this entry, I still have no idea what phone I want to get. I’m thinking I’ll just get another Nokia N70 again hehe reliable eh. Besides, it’s much cheaper now than it was when I first bought one.
I have a character who would rather have one of these than flower, stuffed toys or chocolates from her husband. I guess sa’kin siya naka-base
What’s on your list?

Nothing Else Matters

pwede pa lang magplay ng music ang psp…wow. i didn’t know that. ang purpose lang niya ay to contain yung anak kong lalaki kapag naglilikot. hindi kasi ako tekkie. i think my 4-yr old boy knows how to use the psp more than i do. kids these days are so tech-savvy. and i do agree about getting the external hard-drive. DH got me a western digital 60GB (but ordinary black lang) after my dad spilled coffee on my laptop. that was a scare talaga. so back-up na. and like you my most well-loved phone was a nokia n-70. pero tumirik na yung sa akin at napalitan ng super chipipay china phone. but i do love that one kasi dual-sim siya at kahit ilang milyong beses ko ng naibagsak, it’s still a live. i hope i don’t jinx myself by saying that.
ako? i’m having second thoughts with iphone. (as if naman may perang pambili!), but now that you’ve mentioned about your bestfriend Richelle who doesn’t want an iphone, parang mas lalo akong nagdalawang isip.
eneweiz, top of my list is the sony cybershot digicam. ipod touch na rin siguro ako instead of iphone. maganda pa naman yung phone ko eh.
Kahit medyo mabagal. Well, ganun naman talaga lahat ng N73 yata. Last would be an extra phone for my extra curricular activities. bwahahaha..
ano yang extra-curricular activities na yan? bwahahaha.
one thing in my life na hindi ko bibilin ay ipod. wala akong appreciation for music talaga. pero kung i-gift…hmmmm…hehehe.
makikigaya ako–share na rin ng list ko. on top of my it (siempre nangunguna ang good health and business), the material list, ay yung maliit na HP notebook (ewan ko kung anong tawag sa kanya, basta slightly bigger than asus triple E). tapos pumapangalawa ay bagong agenda cum wallet. pangatlo ay sapatos (na siyang hindi ko mahanap dito sa pinas kasi wala akong size). i hope my husband or dad gets to read this, particulalry number 1. oh…and an endless supply of red mango greentea yogurt, na wala dito sa amin. boohoo!!!!
@ Hannah: Yup, pwede! Mas mahilig ako sa music (although hindi masyado) saka I’ve filled it with audiobooks.
Haha buti nga you only have to change the keyboard ba? ‘Di pa naman nangyayari sa’kin pero better safe than sorry, so yeah. Baka bili na din ako ng WD one of these days.
Love the N70!
@ Jean Mae: Ganun talaga pag nag-work ka as tech support ng isang product.
Alam mo, ngayon ko lang na-realize na with the exeption of the iPhone/Touch, I have my versions of you list. Oh yeah, PSP = ASTIG! Hehehe.
Wait a bit for the new generation of iPods. Rumor has it that Apple is discontinuing their current line & replacing them with new ones. The new iPod touch is said to have a camera, and is essentially an iPhone w/o the call & text ability.
Sold na ako sa MacBook and its future lines. I’ll leave the Windows with my brothers hehe.
P.S. PSP ok din for browsing on the fly but hassle mag type kasi parang cellphone ang style niya… at hindi pa touchscreen. iPhone/Touch, sabi ko nga ke Ching updated naman ako sa ups & downs nun but I’m still sold and plan to get one.
Haha mas techie ka naman sa’kin so you know more about these things than I do hahaha Astig yun! iPod Touch with a camera? Wheee! I want one!!!
I’m comfortable with Windows (kasi I’ve never tried a Mac) so as long as buhay ang Windows XP (ha!) Windows muna ako.
I wish I could save up for a PSP sa Christmas. Magkano ba ang PSP? Or maybe a new improved laptop (nyak! Mas mahal!) If I’m able to save up, samahan mo ako bumili
PSP muna para mura. IF I’m able to save… sabihin na nating oo para matupad. Then samahan kita bumili ng iPhone
PSP namin binigay, so walang gastos hehe. Asa 14k or less, I think. Mac, yun din sabi ko noon eh. Takot ako kasi Windows forever ako (nag TS pa nga di ba?) pero ayun, now I love OS X. OS ng tamad haha. iPhone, well, if they bring out a Touch w/ camera, I think I’m good with that hehe.
I’m better with the Touch with a camera. Sana meron na
den, dahil sa ‘yo i started reading up on netbooks. the more i do, the more i want one…ngayon, parang gusto ko tuloy ng viao, acer aspire or dell inspirion netbooks…pwede na rin isama ang macbook air…but my gas, nang makita ko ang price, it’s like 100K plus. uhm! no thanks. para sa isang maliit na bagay na potentially matapunan ng kape or talunan ng anak ko while i’m typing flat on my tummy on the floor, hindi ko keri.
I know! Ang mahal, sobra! If you can get a laptop na tulad nung Salem-bed mong Fujitsu (haha loka talaga si Leira), baka pwede pa. Pero I like the idea of a netbook. Yung nasa bag mo lang with battery life that lasts a long time para kahit saan ka abutin ng inspiration. If you get one for Christmas *parinig sa hubby ni Hannah* tell me how it is
Mapag-ipunan haha
may nakita ako sa bestbuy online…acer aspire one…sounds perfect. 11.6inches screen, so malakilaki keyboard, windowxp os and 349.99. at nawindang ako sa batter capacity, 8hours….parang nakaka-tempt. hay buhay! i wish, i wish i had a money-tree. i took a peep at the viao…may gash, almost 600 dollars. ouch…yung ka-level niya na acer is 299. no wonder muntik na ma-heartattack si yumi. haha.
ps…saan kaya ako makakakita sa pinas ng same price na acer na yun. i wish lang talaga.
Hahaha korekness! Acer, Asus saka Samsung. MSI Wind din although I haven’t tried window-shopping for them. I wish din may money tree ako. San ba nakakakuha ng seeds non?
naku, elise, kung alam ko lang, sana meron na ako…and binigyan na kita kasi my motto is always to spread the loooohve. naky, talagang kuntodo google ako sa lekat na netbook na ‘yan. as if, bibili. hahaha. kasalanan ‘yan ng post mo na ‘to. hehe. ps…nakakagigil kasi ang cuuuute ng mga colors. i waaaaant.
Hahahaha sorry na! Ako din kaya ganyan pag may obsession.
Aww. Di bale, tabi tabi lang ng kaunti pag may natira after the kids
Makakabili ka rin niya. Oh, dh ni Hannah! Paging! LOL
i try, i try. naku, si dh, nabibingi na yata sa kakaparinig ko.
